Personality and Style

You gotta be you... everybody else is already taken.

If you believe that personality is irrelevant -- something you'd have been issued by the company if you really needed one -- think again.  Your personality, your unique style, is what allows you to do one of the most important things you can do:  differentiate yourself from the competition, and thereby enhance your career effectiveness.

Solid scientific research confirms it:  birds of a feather usually share the same feeder.  That means that your odds of career success go way, way up if you find those places where people who speak your language, who share your wavelength, congregate.  Swim in the right pond, because if you don't, even if others are impressed with you, chances are they won't quite know what to do with you.  "A bird may love a fish, but where would they make their home together?"

Scientists who study human personality increasingly agree that there are five basic ways that normal people differ.  Any personality assessment tool on the market (there are literally thousands of them) are measuring these same basic five differences in some way, using different labels and different methods, but looking at the same fundamental differences -- there's really no other way to slice the personality pie.

Once you have a snapshot of who you are and how others (those with whom you work, or those whom you manage) are similar to or different from you, you can use this knowledge to improve your ability to:

Communicate effectively
Partner in solving problems
Resolve conflicts and disputes
Make more balanced decisions
Motivate and manage others
Make appropriate personnel (hiring and promotional) decisions

Let Business Development Group show you how!  But first, a quick (and better yet, free!) tour of the five major ways that normal people differ.  As we start our tour, remember that this is intended as a value-free model.  There are no better or worse ways to be -- the world needs all types of people.  But knowing which type you are can make a big difference!  See if you can spot yourself.
